Yep. To spur some excitement and to bring the community together, I am having a contest for the show.

What's the Deal?
Ok. You know how I always am preaching about 'Itunes Reviews'? Well, that's your ticket in. If you leave an Itunes Review between now (Feb. 24th, 2009) and April 1st, 2009, your name will be placed into a hat for a drawing. That's all it takes. Leave only a sentence if you want - it all counts.

For those who have already done so, don't fret, you are in!

But, as an act of courtesy, when leaving an Itunes Review please leave a real name. If you want to accompany it with a forum name, that's cool. But please leave a real name.

Why? What do I Win?

I could give away anything. But, I want to give away something that I personally believe as awesome and that deserves many more eyes. SUPER-HUMAN RESOURCES #1. Seriously. This book is great, and I want people to try it.

I will draw three names from the hat. Those three names win a FREE copy of SHR #1 all out of my pocket. Now, you have no excuse not to check out this book. Come on! You get the book for FREE and then shipped to you for FREE. Good deal in my opinion.

Ok. I Win. How do I Collect?
That's simple. I will draw/announce the winners on the first show after April 1st. If I select your name from the hat, all you need to do is e-mail your name and address to me at From there, I will ship the book out to you.

I think this is exciting. I hope you are also excited. I think it can help bring our community together a bit more, give a spotlight to what I see as a very fun book, and....if it can swing me a few more Itunes Reviews....that's cool. wink.gif

So. Get going! I would love to see about 20/25 Itunes Reviews by April 1st. You have a month. It's simple to enter. Please take the time and do it, and you may just end up with a really cool book for FREE! Plus, if this contest goes well, and I receive plenty of entries, this may only be the start to a line of them every few months. So, keep that in mind.

Ok, enough yapping from me. Here's the link ( Go cast your Reviews!!!

The Answer!

I was informed by mister Jason Wood of the 11 O'Clock Comics Podcast of the current situation of Red Mass for Mars. Quote taken from the Bullpen Bulletins Podcast Forum:

"Hey Alec,

I spoke to Hickman at NYCC and, unfortunately, Red Mass is going straight to trade. He agreed that it's not the optimal solution but they had cried wolf too many times with retailers and this was the only way the series would see finish. So for those of us who bought the first issues, we're going to have to rebuy them in the trade or miss out. Sad"

In essence, I understand the troubles and conflict independent books face, but I am still pretty disappointed. For those interested, I will not purchase the trade, I already own half of it, not paying for # 1 & 2 again.

When Will We See an End?

To Red Mass for Mars?

I was really digging those first two issues, but it seems 3 & 4 have never met print. Any body know anything? I know Hickman is suddenly catching a portion of "fame" at Marvel right now, but I would like to see the guy quickly get this series done.

It was an awesome concept for a story, and I would hate to see it never finished. Plus, I technically paid for 3 & 4 by pre-ordering and would like my product.

Anybody else wondering the same?

If you are, send me an e-mail, because I am interested in your thoughts on the matter.

New York Comic Con: The Experience

To all:

The convention was a blast! Without a doubt, this topped my experience last year - all in part because I met so many people and had great discussions! I truly felt the community aspect this weekend and was proud to be a part of it all. Thank you!

I picked up many back issues and received a great deal of free books from generous forum members and creators. All will be read and all will be discussed soon.

A special thanks to: Ian Levenstein, Raph Soohoo, Leroy John Rivera, & Juan De Jesus for their welcoming hospitality and generous nature! You gentlemen added much to the con experience!

Look for a NYCC wrap-up episode with Teenage Wasteland Episode 10!

Teenage Wasteland Episode 9

Hey! I've got an idea! How would you like to experience new comics while moving some of your old junk?? Listen in to find out how and digest my reasoning behind the practice. And, looking outside the world of comics, I bring a new segment to the show discussing what's buzzing through my ears and stored on my Ipod. I'm talking about music, ladies and gents! Also, look out for discussion on IDW's brand new G.I. Joe #1, Amazing Spider-man Extra #2, and Proof #16. This episode is all over the place!!!

A Truly Fantastic Team for Fantastic Four!

Jonathan Hickman & Dale Eaglesham!

Although it's not tied to Dark Reign, Quesada announced that the new creative team on Fantastic Four once Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch finish up are writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Dale Eaglesham. Hickman and Eaglesham team will take over Fantastic Four in September.

The Fantastic Four have always held a special bit in my soul, but I never could truly follow their book. For the time I have been in comics, I have never read a great 616 (Main Marvel Universe) Fantastic Four story. But now, I feel a certain excitement. For those on the outside: Jonathan Hickman is a very skilled writer who has authored such comics as A Red Mass for Mars, Pax Romana, and Transhuman for Image Comics, and now Secret Warriors at Marvel. Hickman's experimental ideas on science ficiton and his play on society seem very well-suited attributes of an FF scribe. Dale Eaglesham has been the solid artist on DC's smash hit Justice Society of America, proving that he is a master beind the pencil when it comes to team books.

Toegther, I see these fine gentlemen making Fantastic Four "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine" once again. No reason for me not to buy the book now. Neither is there for you!

Invincible Teaser!

You know how I always mention an overlapping arc with Invincible....

Here's where it's going!

The more I see from this series, the more convinced I am that Robert Kirkman is an excellent comic book writer. The man can tell a satisfying story in a single issue, yet plant seeds and subplots for epic tales such as these. Invincible is easily in my top 3 when it comes to favorite titles currently being published. If you are not reading this book, stop wasting time!
